Living in Aarhus
The Risskov area is in fact a small town in itself. The college is placed in the middle of a residential area and, as already mentioned, the big shopping centre "Veri Center" is only a few hundred metres from the college. The small wood "Risskov" can be used for a walk or for jogging. The nearby beach can be used in summertime as well as during the winter (it is said to be healthy, not only for Vikings).
What you might miss at Business Academy Aarhus/Vejlby, you will find in downtown Aarhus: Cinemas, theatres, art galleries, museums, bars, cafés, international clubs. For more information, please visit visitaarhus.com.
Social events and activities
Outside class hours the two gyms can be used, e.g. for badminton or volleyball.
On the lawn in front of dormitory 6 there is a beach volley, and on the parking lot behind the dining hall there is a basketball court.
You will also find two common TV rooms on campus.
Traditionally a number of party functions are organised during the term. These parties are organised together with the students. The dates of the parties will be posted in the calendar.
The Council also has access to the room known as ‘Spiserøret’ ('The Gullet’). This room is for small parties or celebrations and can be used by all students according to a previous arrangement with the Students' Council. It consists of a small kitchen and a dinning room.
Studenterhus Aarhus has a cafe and a bar that are operating during the semesters but only the cafe is open during the summer. The cafe also offers a place for you to conduct your study groups or projects. On Tuesdays they arrange “International Nights” which is the perfect opportunity for you to mingle with other international and Danish students from all around Aarhus.
You can also rent a bicycle from Studenterhus Aarhus. The rental price is DKK 1,250 for one semester, where DKK 650 is the rental price and DKK 600 is for the deposit. You will get your deposit back at the end of the rental period, assuming that you returned the bicycle in good condition.
The fee for membership in Studenterhus Aarhus is DKK 105 per year. You are automatically a member if you are an exchange student and you can just pick up your membership card from the Studenterhus by presenting your student card. You can still join their events and activities even if you are not a member.
