New rector wants to get even closer to the business community

Anne Storm Rasmussen, as the new rector, will strengthen the already close contact with the local business community. And the personal character qualities of the students must also be further strengthened under her leadership.

‘It is a very valuable and socially useful task to work to develop the competencies and professionalism of young and adult people. Which is why I’m very happy to throw myself into the tasks.’

So says Business Academy Aarhus' new rector - Anne Storm Rasmussen.

She started on 1 February 2021.

She will lead one of the country’s largest business academies with 10,000 students, 400 employees, 28 further education programmes – and Jutland’s biggest supplier of continuing education targeted for the private labour market.

Big shoes to fill

56-year-old Anne Storm Rasmussen is on home ground at Business Academy Aarhus, where she has held the title of pro-rector since 2014.

She praises both the Academy's employees and the former Rector Christian Mathiasen, whom is passing the baton on to her.

‘Under his leadership, the Academy has undergone an impressive development with uninterrupted growth and excellent results on all parameters. It is a privilege to be allowed to lead such a well-functioning institution with talented staff and students.’

Razor-sharp on social change

Anne’s goal is for the Academy to be razor-sharp regarding social upheavals and changes in the business community which the Academy provides graduates to, and to ensure that our programmes the students with the right competencies - both professionally and personally.

‘It's what companies need – and that’s why we need to get even closer to the business community’.

21st-century skills

Anne Storm Rasmussen will also focus on what she calls 21st-century skills – the special skills needed to succeed in the labour market in the 21st century.

‘It is important that life consists of more than just working and studying. We must therefore take an interest not only in the students as professional employees but also as people. We need to teach them how to learn their entire lives,’ she stresses.

Mother of four

Anne Storm Rasmussen grew up in Viborg and earned an MA in French and Business Economics from Aarhus University.

Prior to joining Business Academy Aarhus as pro-rector in 2014, she was area manager at another large educational institution in Aarhus - VIA University College.

She also holds several board positions, which include Aarhus Statsgymnasium, Student House Aarhus and the Danish Management Society (VL).

On the personal front, Anne Storm Rasmussen lives in flat in the Aarhus suburb of Frederiksbjerg with her husband and their two youngest children. She has four children, all of whom are studying at various levels - political science and medicine at university and the two youngest at high school.

In her free time, she keeps in shape sharp by cycling, swimming and running five to six times a week.
