Isolation and purification of cell constituents in microorganisms

This summer school is a two-week course which will prepare you internationally for your future career or internship stay abroad at the end of your present programme in Denmark.

The summer school is intended for both international and Danish Chemical and Biotechnical Science students who started in 2017. Top-up students with a background in laboratory science from the Bachelor top-up in Chemical and Biotechnical, Food or Process Technology can also participate.

The purpose of this course is to learn more about molecular biology, biotechnology and biochemistry from both a theoretical and practical angle thereby strengthening your CV for your internship and career.  

The summer school in Berlin will be held at Beuth Hochschule für Technik  and will include laboratory work with isolation and purification of cell constituents in microorganisms and plants with different techniques including ultracentrifugation.

We will examine a variety of molecular biological methods such as SDS-PAGE and Western Blotting combined with analytical chemical methodologies like chromatography and mass spectrometry. We will also compare sequences of purified material with protein databases on the internet.

The course will be taught in English by lecturers and professors from the Beuth Hochschule für Technik in Berlin and Business Academy Aarhus.

The summer school is offered in collaboration with Beuth Hochschule für Technik from 6 -17 August 2018.
