IT Mobile Apps with React Native

The summer school 'Mobile Apps with React Native' is a 2-week summer school, which will be held in Aarhus. The purpose of the summer school is to provide knowledge, skills and competencies in the analysis, design and implementation of cross-platform mobile applications with React.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the summer school, students will have demonstrated the ability to:

  • Describe the architecture of a cross-platform application
  • Deploy a basic native app using a cross-platform framework
  • Develop basic user-interface components to display information and receive user input
  • Access native device hardware features using a cross-platform library
  • ​Utilise media, gestures, and notifications in an app

Lectures will be based on theory and practical laboratory work. The objective of the summer school is for students to gain theoretical insights as well as practical experience. The entire course will be taught in English by lecturers and professors from our partners Seneca College (Canada), Ephec (Belgium) and Business Academy Aarhus.

Where and when

The summer school is offered in collaboration with all our partner universities Seneca College and Ephec and will take place in Aarhus from 26 June - 7 July 2023.

Who can join

The course is offered to Business Academy Aarhus students from several of our IT programmes. Seneca and Ephec will likewise offer the summer school to their relevant IT students.  

The summer school is ideal for students who want to incorporate a different academic or cultural experience in their educational profile.

The summer school is weighted 5 ECTS credits.

Practical information

Accommodation

Book1 Design Hostel which is in the centre of Aarhus with direct transport to our campus in Viby. This is a luxury hostel and students will be placed in private rooms consisting of 6 or 10 beds (depending on gender considerations and final numbers). Each room will only be populated with our summer school students. Each room has an en-suite bathroom and extra lockers will also be provided. Check-in is from Saturday 24 June.

Financial issues 

There is no tuition fee for the course for students from our partner universities.

You must pay all other expenses in connection with the summer school in Aarhus. 

If you are offered a place on this summer school, a non-refundable payment (1,000 DKK) must be paid in approximately mid-May in order to ensure your registration. This amount pays for some of the combined social activities and lunch etc., and will only be used for your benefit. We may require you to pay a little bit more later on in the process (if prices continue to increase). 

Approximate budget in DKK, per person
Transport to and from a Danish airport 500 from Cph airport, 162 from Billund airport or 115 from Aarhus airport
Accommodation (at Book 1 Design Hostel), with check-in Sunday 25 June and check-out Saturday 8 July 2023. Between 380 and 420 per night/per person depending on final numbers.
Course-related trips and lunch 1,000
Meals Breakfast must be purchased and you must expect to use from around 100 DKK per evening for main meals

When you come to Aarhus:

  • non-EU citizens might need a visa, please check and let me know
  • you must have a valid passport
  • make sure you have insurance (health and repatriation)
  • you will need extra money for meals and other related costs
