Get a student from Service and Experience Management as an intern

Here are examples of daily tasks and smaller projects an intern can help you with:

• Host guests and partners
• Develop and implement concepts for value-creating guest relations
• Quality-check and improve hospitality, service levels, and complaint handling
• Collect feedback, conduct guest satisfaction analyses, and carry out evaluations
• Analyse internal service systems and customer/guest journeys (physical and digital)
• Develop communication products such as news releases, branding, storytelling, content, and experience-based communication
• Set up, plan, and market on social media – including evaluating and developing content and campaigns based on target group analysis
• Plan and execute events and functions
• Develop and implement guest experiences, meeting and conference concepts, or new customer events
• Concept development and creative input on experience-based services

To ensure a successful internship, both the company and the student should be well-prepared and share a positive and ambitious mindset.

The student is doing an internship to develop and learn. It’s a good idea to assign the student one or more mentors – people who can offer guidance and insight into daily operations, tasks, and processes.

Before the internship begins, the student and the company should agree on tasks, working hours, duration, etc.

The internship starts in July or August and lasts for 10 weeks. Following the internship, the student may complete their final exam project for the company.

As the internship is a part of an educational programme, your company is not obliged to pay a salary to the intern.

The company is allowed to give the student a ‘token’ payment of up to 3608 DKK per month (per 1. January 2025).

Subsidies for transport, rent and a phone, which the student can document are related to the internship, can be given without affecting the student's educational grant (SU).

A student who becomes aware of trade secrets during his/her internship may not share or use this information without prior approval as stipulated in the Commercial Secrets Act, §4.

Business Academy Aarhus employees and external co-examiners who are involved with internships are also covered by §4 of the Commercial Secrets Act, just as they have a duty of confidentiality pursuant to Chapter 8, Section §27 of the Public Administration Act.

If the internship takes place in a company in Denmark, the student is covered by the act on worker's compensation (lov om arbejdsskadesikring), cf. Ministerial Order no. 919 from 25 June 2024, and by the act on liability for damages (lov om erstatningsansvar).

It is therefore the internship company’s responsibility to insure the intern, just as all other employees are insured. Associations and sole proprietors are also covered by the duty to insure, even if you don’t have any other employees.

If the internship takes place in a company outside of Denmark, then it is the student's responsibility to examine and assess whether he or she can be covered by the company's insurance policies. In cases where the student is not covered by the company's insurance, the student must ensure that they have any necessary insurance.

The Service and Experience Management programme is a 2-year higher education Academy Professional programme that qualifies students to develop and plan service offerings in national and international service and hospitality companies.

Admission requires an upper secondary education or a relevant vocational education.
