Chemical and Biotechnical Science
This programme in English will no longer accept new students from 2022 and onwards.
We have had to stop international admissions because of the political decision to reduce the number of study places taught in English at Danish business academies.
Information about the Chemical and Biotechnical Science programme on this page only applies to students who are already enrolled at Business Academy Aarhus.
About the programme
The Chemical and Biotechnical Science programme is for people who would like to work in a practical, research or development laboratory. This AP programme is the international version of the Danish laborant programme (laboratory technology).

1-year internship in your 4th and 5th semester
In your internship, you will get to test your newly acquired skills in a company and get insight into future work assignments and career opportunities. You will be able to connect your theoretical knowledge with practical experience and at the same time strengthen your CV.
You can choose an internship company that fits your interests within chemical and biotechnical work. You, therefore, add a special profile to your programme which fits with your future career plans. As part of your internship, you must write a project report which is based on a problem statement from the company.
The internship is a mandatory part of your programme, and it is your responsibility to find an internship company. To help, we have a wide range of tools and contacts available, e.g. via our career centre.
Your internship can be taken in a company in Denmark or abroad. Here are some examples of internship companies:
- Dupont Brabrand
- Viking Genetics Assentoft
- Fertin Pharma Vejle
- Syddansk Universitet
- Arla Rødkærsbro og Taulov
- Eurofins Galten og Vejen
- Novo Nordisk Bagsværd
- Novozymes Kalundborg
- Danmarks Tekniske Universitet
- Teknos Vamdrup
- Københavns Universitet
- Aalborg Universitet
If the internship is in Denmark, you will get a salary during the internship in accordance with the collective agreement between the trade union and the State/Confederation of Danish Industry. If your internship is outside of Denmark, the company is not obliged to pay a salary, but you can take SU (the government grant) with you.
Good Danish skills help international students get an internship
After just one year in Denmark, Bertold Bocskor from Hungary got an internship where most of the work takes place in Danish.
